About Tim Schaack:

Click to viewI started my first colt when I was 12 and by age 14 the neighbors were sending their colts to me to start. I went to college for 4 years on a full ride rodeo scholarship.

After college, I tried to get away from the horses, but I couldn't get them out of my heart. In 1991, I started riding horses full-time again and took in troubled horses. I helped the horses with their people problems, as most problems are caused by people. If given a chance, the horse will always try to get along. I started a lot of colts and made a lot of rope horses.

In 2001, I took a job riding and showing horses for Haythorn Land and Cattle. It was a good opportunity for my family and me. During my tenure there, we made a lot of good cow horses. There is a wonderful bunch of people at the Haythorn Ranch and I will always cherish the friends I have there.

I now have a horse training business with my sons. We start colts, rope horses, cow horses, and also show horses for the public. We are located in the Southern Black Hills of South Dakota, making our home in Edgemont.

My knowledge of horses has been inspired by great horsemen like Ray Hunt, Bryan Neubert, Joe Wolter, and Curt Pate.

I feel the knowledge that I have gained by riding for the public is priceless. I have had to help bridge the gap between horse and rider. I believe I can help people enjoy their horse more and get their horse to the next level. My goal is to keep the people and their horses= safe, and by doing that, it allows people to reach a whole new level of enjoyment from their horse.
